My Papa always used to say, “Everything in moderation” and it is a saying I have lived my life by. I have found that it impacts all aspects of life and has greatly helped me in striking a balance when getting things done as a mom, wife, daughter, homemaker, homesteader, and homeschool teacher while still allowing me to slow down and enjoy the little things.
Thanks to this motto, my goal is to share what specifically has helped me strike that balance of simple life amidst chaos, so here at the Hummingbird Hilltop Homestead you will find realistic tips on how to create a cozy and well functioning home no matter where you are in life.
My husband, daughter, and I purchased land in the hill country in 2023 eager to get away from the city and raise our family in a slower paced and traditional environment. We lived on the property in a less than 500 square foot cabin until we were able to complete our new home build on the property at the beginning of 2024. We are now ready to put the final touches on our home and begin our homesteading journey and want to bring you all along
Dedication
My family and I dedicate our blog to our little hummingbird, Evie. Our name for our home and blog, Hummingbird Hilltop Homestead comes from not only the fact that we have beautiful hummingbirds on our property each spring and summer but to our second daughter, who is in Heaven but had quite the impact on her very short earthly life. She passed away from Edward’s Syndrome, and we would like to make people aware of the condition and ask that you support and pray for families affected.
“God Is Our Fortress“
Psalm 46 is an important part of the Bible for me. On my homepage you may have seen Psalm 46:5 ESV which is often mistaken as a reference to women, but the verse is actually providing us with insight as to what it is really like to be one of God’s people. When life’s storms are raging we have refuge in God.
I still think the verse lends itself well to the role of what women take on day to day and find comfort in it from that perspective, but I love that it is for any Christian to have the assurance of God no matter what is happening in life.
